Revere Girl Scout Troop at Governor’s Office

A group of Revere Girl Scouts got a quick (and unexpected) trip to the corner office last week while touring the State House. Troop leader Stacy Ceren said her charges were taking the standard tour of the capitol when Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito crossed their paths and found out they were from Revere. The new state executives invited the Scouts into their office and visited with them and showed them around. “It was incredible and the girls had the time of their lives,” said Ceren.

FKO Gets $400,000 Grant for New Building

REVERE – It seems only appropriate that the For Kids Only (FKO)afterschool program receives a $400,000 grant to build a new facility during the program’s 30th anniversary year. The Department of Early Education (EEC) and the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC) awarded the grant to go toward the $2.8 million building project. The For Kids Only program is currently run out of 268A Broadway across from city hall. The new building planned for 85 Broadway will be 5,000 square feet and known as the Youth in Motion facility. ATTEMPTED ARSON CHARGES A Revere man is facing charges after an argument with his wife where he threatened to burn down the house last Wednesday, Jan. 21. Police were called to the residence on Sagamore Street around 11:52 p.m. for a domestic incident between a husband and wife. After the argument, the man threatened to burn down the house and he obtained a juice filled bottle and actually spilled some gasoline on the stairwell and landing. Anthony Heard, 49, of 65 Sagamore St., was charged with attempted arson of a dwelling house, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.
