More than Two for This Tango

Scores of supporters turned out to support the Tango family at the Beachmont VFW last Thursday evening. Marc Tango – president of Revere Pop Warner – who was diagnosed last year with leukemia. Since that time, numerous supporters have responded to help the Tango family and participate in the annual Light the Night walk in Boston – all walking for the ‘Tango Tough’ team. Police Briefs 10-15-2014

POWER OUTAGE ON SUNDAY More than 7,000 residents and businesses lost power for a few hours on Sunday afternoon as a result of a blown electrical relay mechanism. Those affected were stretched from Beachmont to Broadway to Malden Street and Squire Road. National Grid responded to a blown relay system in the Ward Street area, and it took a few hours to get things back up and running. Fire crews noted numerous calls for services during the outage. ARRESTED on multiple charges Revere Police arrested a woman late Sunday night for allegedly strangling a woman on Malden Street and putting her in fear for her life. Metro North Plan Could Complement Revere’s Development

Mayor Dan Rizzo and Economic Development Director John Festa have scheduled the city’s second economic summit for Nov. 21 and one of the issues surely that will be discussed is state  Housing and Economic Development Secretary’s Greg Bialecki’s land use plan for the newly named “Metro North” region that includes Revere and eight other communities, Chelsea, Everett, Charlestown, Winthrop, East Boston, Malden, Melrose, and Somerville. To Mayor Rizzo’s credit, he has always been receptive to collaborative and regional approaches to issues affecting Revere. He was an engaged participant in Bialecki’s conference that was held at the Wyndham Hotel in Chelsea and he is certainly weighing the plan’s potential impact on Revere’s ongoing and future plans for development.
